Hi, there!

I’m Malvina, a PhD student interested in Machine Learning for grounded Natural Language Processing. My research is centered around developing efficient methods for adapting multimodal models to new tasks and diverse domains. This involves exploring approaches at the intersection of Continual Learning, Vision-and-Language Pretrained Models, and Embodied AI. An application that I am particularly interested in is adapting large vision-and-language models to different languages and cultures, a step towards creating truly inclusive and globally accessible NLP solutions.

About me

I am currently a fourth-year PhD student in the CDT in Robotics and Autonomous Systems at the Edinburgh Center for Robotics. Before starting my PhD, I received my undergraduate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in Greece. I also worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at Behavioral Signals, where I focused on multimodal NLP for emotion recognition. My research efforts are motivated by the goal to build agents that can collaborate with humans and connect language to the world.
